My name is Erica Massenburg; I was born and raised in one of the best sports cities in the world, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Philly, we love a good cheesesteak, pretzel, and water ice, but we also love our sports teams just as much. The same enjoyment we have while biting into a cheesesteak and eating water ice on a 95-degree day. It is the same enjoyment we have while watching our Eagles score a touchdown, our Phillies hit a home run, our Sixers hit that game-winning shot, and while reading the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper article on the game. Win, lose, or draw in Philly; we love what we love. A city of Passion, Purpose, and Love that describes some leaves on my tree branch of growing up in the city of brotherly/sisterly love. I am honored and very excited to be a part of Hobby News Daily as a writer. I aim to share my insight into my Passion, Purpose, and Love for collecting with others. As someone who loves to travel the world, learn about different cultures, eat good food, and meet new people, I hope you enjoy this journey with me as I share other stories from a different point of view.
I have always had a passion for the art of collecting. I love hearing about other collectors' journeys within their collections of items. Collecting can come in all different shapes and sizes and take on various forms, such as physical and digital. As for me being a lover of sports, a supporter of athletes, and having an appreciation for the full recipe, everything from the athletes, coaches, officials, scorekeepers, janitors, parents/guardians, and the people who make the supplies needed for sports. It's always crucial to remember the recipe's importance and respect it. The full recipe allows us to play sports and watch sports for entertainment. Sports is a driving force in today's sports card climate/market; with the increased use and influence of social media, it's important to remember there is always a full recipe behind things, and respect should not be an option but a requirement. Within sports card collecting, have fun, collect what you love, and respect not just the people you interact with in the hobby but also respect the person on the card you're collecting or trading. Value is in everything and everyone, including you, me, and everyone in the world.
My daughter Neytiri and I love collecting together. We enjoy the journey of collecting items, from our short to long-distance drives to our flights. We are collecting items and capturing priceless moments together that bring joy, happiness, and love to both of us. We also created our own Museum exhibit - which displays our collection with the story of African American History. Our goal is to take our exhibition worldwide, to reach people genuinely interested in learning more and honoring African American History.
Peace and Love
